West Brom announce permanent signing of Molumby

West Bromwich Albion have made Jayson Molumby’s season-long loan permanent. The 22-year-old has left Brighton & Hove Albion after the appearance-related clause in his loan agreement with West Brom was triggered. He has signed a deal until 2025 with the fee understood to be £900,000.Molumby has made 30 league appearances for West Brom this season and scored his only goal of the season in their 2-1 defeat by Middlesbrough in February. Steve Bruce said of Molumby's permanent signing: “We’re really pleased to have Jayson on board permanently.“He’s a young player full of energy and passion, and we see plenty of potential in him to grow and develop further.“He’s only 22 and he’s already played more than 75 games in the Championship.“He’s managed to force himself into our XI recently and now his challenge is to stay there by continuing to show improvements in his game.”But it’s his experience in the Championship at a young age that makes him a great signing for West Brom — with the midfielder having made 81 league appearances for Millwall, Preston North End and now West Brom. The Republic of Ireland international made his first senior league appearance for Brighton in November 2020 after a handful of cup features since joining their youth academy in 2015. They have fluctuated between 10th and 13th and now sit on the edge of the top 10, with ninth the highest potential finish with one game to go.They face Barnsley on the final day of the season.
